On January 26 - February 07, 2008, 2nd International Seminar and Instruction course for Wushu judges and coaches took place in St-Petersburg, Russia, teached by Mr. Liu Tongwei, professor of Shanghai Sports University.

After the first seminar in August 2007, Mrs. Eleonora Volokontseva, president of National Wushu Federation of Russia, decided to organize the follow-up in order to give a chance to more people to get the information directly from the creator of modern International Wushu Competition rules.

Mr. Liu Tongwei, explained the news and the latest modifications in of groups A, B and C. During the practice hours, Mr. Liu Tondwei demonstrated the methods and exercices for training of the difficult movements.

VIII International Wushu Championship took place under Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries on February 09-10, 2008 in Helsinki, Finland.

110 athletes from 8 countries took part in the Championship: 22 teams from Azerbaijan, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine.

 

As always, the Championship was open to all teams, schools, clubs and individuals.

 

The Championship goals are promotion of sporting Wushu, improvement of Wushu skills, exchange of experience between the athletes of the various countries, selection of the athletes into teams, promotion of healthy way of life, attracting countries to participating in competitions held by Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries.

By personal invitatation of CSAIN Association (Italy), the team of National Wushu Federation of Russia took part of International Company Sports Festival in Catania, Italy.

 

The Festival included modern and traditional Wushu competitions, headed by International Grade Wushu judges from Italy.

 

Our athletes - Ekaterina Iordanidi, Vlexandor Ivanov, Anastasia Tairova, Fedor Sozontov, leaded by Federation's Senior Coach Eleonora Volokontseva, - successfully performed in all events and won 6 Champion titles and 6 prize places.


Ekaterina Iordanidi won the Best Athlete's Cup assigned by the Organizing Committee of the Festival.

Mr. Liu Tongwei, professor of Shanghai Sports University, is the worldwide-known and leading Wushu expert participated in the creation of International Wushu competition rules.

He is also a big friend of Mrs. Eleonora Volokontseva since a long time ago. She invited him to hold a seminar for Accredited Participators of Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries. The preparations took almost 2 years and finally, in August 02, 2007, Mr. Liu Tongwei came to St-Petesburg, accompanied by his assistant and translator, Mr. Wang Weiguo.

VII International Tournament has been held in St-Petersburg, Russia, by Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries. 138 athletes, 20 teams from 6 countries took part of the competition. Vice-president of Finnish Wushu Federation, Mr. Niilo Kivirinta, noticed that the tournaments organized by Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries are traditionally among the best organized Wushu competitions in the World.

The International Tournament "Open Cup of National Wushu Federation of Russia - 2006" took place in St-Petersburg, traditionally, the last weekend of November. This time, we had 121 athlete and 21 teams from 4 countries. The competition, organized in the brand new stadium, got the warm greetings from Consul of China for education in St-Petersburg, Mr. LI Gochian and the "Vesti-Sport" TV company.

On May 01-07, the team of National Wushu Federation of Russia successfully performed on the greatly organized 8th World Grand Wushu Festival in Shanghai, where 225 athletes from 16 countries have participated.

 

Our team members won 23 medals, including 12 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze.The leaders of the team were especially successful: Ekaterina Iordanidi took 6 first places from 7 events participated and Mikhail Gololobov - 3 first places from 5 events participated.

National Wushu Federation of Russia continues to cooperate with Shanghai Wushu Institute and Shanghai Sports University.

 

From April 24 to May 01, 2006, our team had the instruction course and joint trainings with Shanghai Wushu team.

 

The theme of the instruction course was getting the last information about the changes in the Wushu techniques and competition rules.

VI International Wushu Championship, organized by Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries, had been held in St-Petersburg, Russia, on February 24-26, 2006, with more 150 athletes from 7 countries participated.

For the first time, the team from USA took part of the competitions - the athletes from American Wushu Society, headed by Mr. Edward Aguirre. Mr. Edward Aguirre, well-known person in the world of Wushu, has been trained in the first Beijing Wushu team by Wu Bin and prepared the first professional Wushu team in USA. He greatly appreciated the high professional level of judges, athletes, organizing committee and the tournament at a whole. “In Wushu, I never met a person more dedicated to her profession and goal than Ms. Eleonora Volokontseva”, Aguirre said.

This year, the International Tournament "Open Cup of National Wushu Federation of Russia" has been held on the very high level, as usually, and gathered the Wushu teams from 8 countries.

For the first time, the team from Kazakhstan joined the competition, - the one of Club of Martial Arts "Dao" that recently became an Accredited Participator of Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries.

Also, for the first time the judgement under the new IWUF rules (edition 2003) has been introduced on this tournament.

But the real excitement for all athletes and organizers was the participation of brilliant Shanghai Wushu team, including Xie Fu Yan, the actual 3rd place in China in nanquan and nangun.

Nothing is more valubale in sport and Wushu as an information. Authentic information about routines, training methods and preparing teams. It gives coaches and athletes the chance to develop their professional skills and clear the new bars in Wushu. The task of any true Wushu Federation is to deliver such information to its members.

National Wushu Federation cooperates with its Chinese colleagues for a long time and has already organized the seminars in China. However, this year, this activity rose to the International level.

In July 2005, Eleonora Volokontseva, president of Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries and National Wushu Federation of Russia, organized the International seminar-practice in Shanghai Wushu Institute for coaches and athletes from 5 countries – Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Finland and Australia.

V International Wushu Chapionship, organized by Wushu Association of Baltic and Nordic Countries took place in Helsinki, Finland on 18-20, 2005.

This year, it was 20 teams and 120 athletes from Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Holland, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Sweden, and Ukraine.

The list of titled participants included Alexey Koval (Russia) - World Champion on traditional Wushu and World prizer on Sporting Wushu, Fang Oei (Holland) - Champion of Europe in taijijian, Irina Mazepa, Ekaterina Iordanidi, Mikhal Gololobov (Russia) - multiple times Champions of Beijing, Shanghai and Shaolin Wushu Tournaments.

The annual Open Cup of National Wushu Federation of Russia has been held for the fifth time in St-Petersburg on November 26-28, 2004. This year, it was the record number of the Russian athletes - 158 competitors from 170. Also, the representatives from Estonia and Latvia took part in seminars and judgement.

In August 2004, the team of National Wushu Federation of Russia had the instruction course in Shanghai Wushu Institute. The course was teached by the famous coaches that trained the Champions of China and the trainings were made together with the Shanghai Wushu team.

 

After the instruction course, the team went to Beijing to take part of Beijing International Wushu Tournament, where we met the strong competitors from China, Malaysia, Ukraine and Russian Wushu Federation.

8th World Chinwoo Championships and 10th Jubilee International Polish Polish Wushu Championships took place in Warsaw, Poland, On July 03-04, 2004.

The team of National Wushu Federation of Russia performed very successfully and won several World Champion titles in Wushu Chinwoo and 30 prize places in sporting Wushu, including the All-round Cup in the women individual competition.
